Rochester Community and Technical College is proud to announce that its TRIO Student Support Services program has been awarded a $2.25 million grant to fund an additional five years of service to students. TRIO is a federal outreach and student retention program funded through a grant competition and is committed to helping students develop the skills to earn a college education.
RCTC’s TRIO program has served students for more than 35 years—each year assisting 250 students who are first-generation college students, students who come from a low-income experience, or students with documented disabilities.
“Student Support Services staff are excited to continue RCTC’s tradition of helping students overcome barriers to higher education by providing hope and opportunity to attend, persist in, and graduate from college,” states RCTC Student Support Services Director, Jason Bonde.
As part of RCTC’s Student Support Services, the TRIO program provides students with academic coaches who support and motivate students with advising, peer tutoring, and workshops including note taking, test strategies, study skills, financial literacy, and resume and cover letter writing. Student Support Services also offers participants access to a variety of cultural events, career exploration, and college transfer assistance. Learn more about RCTC’s TRIO program here.
