Youth programs offer opportunities for fun and learning

Hey parents: Don’t tell your kids, but there are several educational opportunities for them this summer that will just look like FUN. Here are a few summer camps and activities for students in kindergarten through high school, led by college instructors:
Youth Football Skills Camp is for grades K-8 of any skill level. Sessions are June 9 and June 23, July 14 and July 28, from 9 a.m.-noon. Location: 2905 Stadium View Place S.E. Each session costs $50 and consists of working with RCTC Yellowjacket football coaches and players. Your child will work on agility, speed, passing, and sportsmanship while learning skills and making connections.
High School Theater Camp is for 9th-12th graders of any skill level. Dates are July 10 to July 14 from 9 a.m.-noon. Location: Hill Theater, 851 30th Ave. S.E. This camp costs $200 with a focus on learning and practicing improvisation skills. The camp is led by RCTC Theater instructor Jerry Casper.

Middle School Scratch Coding Camp is for grades 7-9 of any skill level. Dates are July 17 to July 21, from 9 a.m.-noon. Location: 851 30th Ave. S.E. This camp costs $200 and is led by RCTC philosophy and computer science instructor Brendan Shea, Ph.D, and current RCTC students. Your child will practice the basics of the Scratch coding language and create digital stories, games and animations.
