RCTC instructor Simon Huelsbeck was honored Oct. 17 with the Excellence in Arts Education Ardee Award from the Greater Rochester Arts & Trust during a ceremony at Mayo Civic Center.
Named in recognition of Rochester Mayor Ardell F. Brede’s enduring support of the arts in the community, the Ardee Awards honor the best in the visual and performing arts and the humanities, and those whose support through leadership, education, and collaboration have had a significant impact on those endeavors.
“Whether you are only curious or art serious, I would love to have the opportunity to work with you,” Huelsbeck said. “If painting or drawing are not along the lines of your creative interests, you are likely to find classes suited to your interest at RCTC, including varieties of dance, music, theater, photo, ceramics and design.
One of three finalists for the award, Huelsbeck, said he felt “honored and humbled to be nominated.”
“I promise to continue to strive to provide the very best that I am able for my students,” Huelsbeck said. “It is my great privilege to have a career that is so well suited to my passions for art and education.”
Ardee Awards are presented in the following categories: Mayor’s Award for Public Art, Outstanding Youth in Arts, Outstanding Volunteer in the Arts, Outstanding Greater Rochester Arts, Outstanding Artist, Arts Collaboration, Leadership in the Arts and People’s Choice.
