Nearly three years ago, RCTC athlete Micah Jeppesen became a victim of physical abuse by her then boyfriend of one and a half years. Now, she’s motivated to make sure no one else has to go through what she did and can recognize the signs of an abusive relationship before it gets out of control

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference, under the leadership of Peter Watkins, hopes to break the barriers holding back many two-year athletic programs. This includes lack of recognition for the teams and low promotion of conference events, all of which results in two-year sports teams and leagues being overlooked in favor of four-year schools.

After signing five new players to the team this year, RCTC’s women’s basketball team makes strong moves through the conference.

The mens basketball team opens the season strong, but lost to Anoka-Ramsey in the NJCAA Region XIII championship game.

RCTC Head Wrestling Coach Randy Rager is finalist for Area Coach of the Year. “We are thrilled that the Rochester Amateur Sports Commission has named Coach Rager as a finalist for Coach of the Year,” said RCTC Athletic Director Mike Lester.

Kendrick Bachman, a coach at the Crossfit Credence gym in Rochester, currently attends RCTC for a few classes. As an athlete and a swimmer, he’s also had the opportunity to swim against and hang out with professional swimmers like Ryan Lochte, Michael Phelps, Matt Grevers, Brendan Hansen, and Aaron Peirson.
