Last year, former RCTC student Aaron Potter directed a short film “A Heart Under Shadow.”

This year, that movie placed third in the Narrative Short category in the Winnipeg Real to Reel Film Festival.

“A Heart Under Shadow’s acceptance into the Winnipeg Film Festival was very encouraging to the entire film team,” Potter said. “Having our work accepted alongside some well-known and successful films always holds nice encouragement.”

Potter is founder of Solid Ground Studios, a local film production company dedicated to Christian films. Several former and current RCTC students were in the cast and crew, including Caleb Davis, Josiah Jones, Daniel Reichmann, Elaina Hagstrom and Abigail Furutani.

“A Heart Under Shadow” tells the story of Cassi, a young woman who is mistrustful of men because of abuse by her father.

“We’re also looking forward to the film being shown to a new audience,” Potter said. “We have received some powerful testimonies as viewers realize the freedom from fear that Christ offers, and we hope that more people will understand and accept this hope.”

“A Heart Under Shadow” is one of 15 films featured in the festival’s Narrative Short category. Other films were from Canada, Spain, Ireland and India.
