College students have busy schedules. Between classes, work, family obligations, and socializing, it can be difficult to add one more thing to your list. But here’s something to consider: exercise.
Physical activity has been proven to relieve stress and improve memory, concentration, and overall mood. The commitment of exercise can seem overwhelming, but something as little as three 30-minute sessions per week is enough to get your mind into shape for the school year.
RCTC’s Athletic Department invites you to exercise by taking advantage of their open gym opportunity.
During the school year, students and faculty of RCTC and WSU can take advantage of the open gym. All that’s necessary is an RCTC/WSU ID and proper workout attire.
Located in RCTC’s Fieldhouse, the program runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday in the fall, adding Monday in the spring. Students and faculty can use the track, basketball hoops, soccer goals, volleyballs and footballs. There is also an opportunity for pickup games.
“The goal is to give people an outlet, especially with winter coming up, and some physical activity to get the cobwebs out of sitting in class all day and being cooped up inside,” said Sam Rosenzweig, Athletic Equipment Manager.
