In bittersweet news for Rochester Community and Technical College, Michael Anthony, Ph.D., Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, announced his appointment today as Vice President of Student Affairs and Institutional Effectiveness at Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, IL.
In a note to colleagues, Dr. Anthony shared:
I think it’s important to share with you all, many of whom I consider friends as well as colleagues, why this is happening now. I was called about my current role at RCTC by a colleague who worked with me in Chicago back in 2013-2015. He had just taken the Presidency of another college within Minnesota State. Within two days of our conversation I was talking with Interim President Helens, who was telling me all about this wonderful college called RCTC. She told me the good, the bad, and the ugly. Her candor and honesty, and the needs that she articulated, led me to apply. While I knew this would take me away from my young daughter, I was confident I could work it out and manage my duty to her and to this institution. I was wrong. Despite my desire to be here much longer, the toll of doing this particular job is too great given my distance from her (and my family further down South). I do not regret anything in my life, and especially not moving up here. The work you all have done, and the people I have met have left an indelible mark on me, and I am thankful for it.
The College extends a tremendous thanks to Dr. Anthony for his service and dedication to the students of RCTC. His passion for student success will be greatly missed. Dr. Anthony’s last day at the College is June 21st. Additional information about a search for a replacement will be forthcoming.
