(ROCHESTER, MN) Rochester Community and Technical College is proud to announce its 2019 Commencement Ceremony will be held in the Regional Sports Center on Thursday, May 16, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
840 students will be graduating, 143 of whom will graduate with high honors (a grade point average of 3.75 or above), and an additional 134 students will graduate with honors (a grade point average of 3.5 – 3.749).
The keynote speaker for the commencement ceremony is Armin Budimlic, Executive Director of the Intercultural Mutual Assistance Association (IMAA). Budimlic is originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina and has been living in Rochester since 1994. He was granted U.S. citizenship in 2000.
Budimlic’s educational journey started in Bosnia and Herzegovina where he studied mechanical engineering. Budimlic came to the United States as a refugee in 1994. Once he started working with IMAA, Budimlic realized he needed additional education to fulfill his new passion of helping new Americans achieve self-reliance. Budimlic graduated from the business administration program at RCTC and then completed his bachelor’s degree at Winona State University. He continued his education and earned an MBA at Saint Mary’s University in 2009.
