RCTC Men’s Wrestling Secures Seventh National Title at NJCAA Championships
Yellowjackets Earn Back-to-Back Championships and Three All-American Honors
The Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) men’s wrestling team clinched its seventh national title, finishing first among non-scholarship Division III schools at the NJCAA Men’s Wrestling Championships held in Council Bluffs, Iowa, this past weekend. This marks the Yellowjackets’ second consecutive national championship and their fifth title in the past six years. RCTC also placed 10th overall across all divisions.
Three Yellowjackets wrestlers earned All-American honors for their outstanding performances. Leo Tukhlynovych (Shakopee, MN) secured third place at 174 pounds for the second straight year. Tyson Wilson (Atlanta, GA) finished sixth at 125 pounds, while Cito Tuttle (Stillwater, MN) placed eighth in the heavyweight division. The top eight finishers in each weight class receive All-American recognition.
RCTC head wrestling coach Andy Hackenmueller shared, “Winning this national championship was a full team effort. Each wrestler worked hard, dug deep, and found ways to earn points for the team and support each other. They bought into the process and continued the tradition of excellence in the RCTC wrestling program.”
Adding to the team’s success, coach Andy Hackenmueller was named NJCAA Division III Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season. Now in his fourth year leading the program, Hackenmueller continues to build on the Yellowjackets’ legacy of excellence.
